I have a T400 running Windows 7 x64. I have Lenovo power manager installed. Usually my optical drive (DVDRW) is powered off automatically since I don't use it often, but it always turns on whenever I insert a disk. I was just ripping a bunch of CDs to hard drive and after I put in a new CD, the optical drive powered off and will not power on. It was working fine a minute before..

I tried switching power settings but that still didn't do anything. The drive spins up when it closes but stays powered off (?) according to the computer. I right clicked and hit "power on" but nothing happens. I tried ejecting numerous times and it will open/close and spin up initially but it still says it's powered off.

    Help?

Did you try rebooting or reseating the optical drive?

    that happens to me sometimes
what i do is just take out the whole optical drive and put it back in

theres a little switch that if you push it, it opens up a tab
pull on the tab a little and the optical drive pops out about half a cm
then just pull out the optical drive a couple inches, push it back in, and then push the tab back in

that usually turns on the optical drive for me
