I need help from someone with experience dealing with the monkeys at Lenovo.

There was an extra 10% discount button in the checkout basket when I bought my Thinkpad. The discount showed my price with the 10% applied, I entered my credit information, and was sent to the final checkout confirmation page which also showed the 10% applied.

I saved that page to my HD.

Later, I got a confirmation email but the discount wasn't applied. I called, sent proof, but was told to wait until after invoice. After invoice (when the laptop was shipped), I sent the proof again - Now they are rejecting the discount because they say there is no coupon code. True, there wasn't, it was located in the checkout basket.

I'm really frustrated with Lenovo right now. To me, it's a bait-and-switch....I agreed to pay X amount with my card, confirmed it, and now they want me to pay Z amount. It doesn't make sense at all.

The last step is to wait for a supervisor to call.

Question: Do I wait for someone to call and give them a chance to work it out - or should I file a dispute with my credit card and contact the BBB? Never filed a dispute, but I assume it's a pain to straighten it out after the process is started.

    Any advise or experiences???

I would give them a chance to right it...to me this would mean either
    1) give you the discount your proof shows or
    2) allow you to rma without any restocking fee or shipping costs

I would let them know they if they do not right it by one of these, you will be contacting the BBB for exactly what you states...bait and switch.

I think your right to at least try to work it out first, then dispute through the card and BBB. I really don't want to threaten to send it back because I do want to keep it - I'm very happy with it so far.

Worst case, if they won't budge, any thoughts on the configuration below for $895.00 without the discount (excluding tax):

    R61/T5470 - 1.6GHz/Vista Premium/14.1 WXGA+/NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M/120GB/DVD-R/INTEL4965AGN/ULTRANAV(TRCKP+TOUCHP) +Finger Reader/6 cell Battery

With the discount it would be $805.50 (excluding tax). Do you think I'm getting a deal even without the 10% discount? It's a low price for the value, isn't it?

Even at $900 it sounds like a steal. I cant even configure for that low using the education epp with the generic 5% and the 'current' sale whatever that is.

If you like the machine I say keep it :)

You could always pretend like you are requesting an rma just to try and get the discount back - if you cant get it just keep it?

It sounds like its worth a phone call to me, but not worth sending back if they dont give the discount.

Thanks, I’ll still go after them…maybe I can get a battery or a docking station.

Repped for checking pricing with your discounts, appreciated.
