I bought a second-handed T410s about a month ago and it came with an unauthorized copy of windows which finally expired a few days ago, so I performed a clean installation with the product key included, with Windows 7 being successly activated. I then proceeded to install drivers.

However, for some reason I was unable to install the wireless network card device. The ethernet/ wired internet works though. I have tried the following:
    - Installing the lenovo drivers
    - Installing the intel drivers
    - Checking that the wireless button is turned on.
    - Using system update and install all recommended drivers.

The problem seems to be that the wireless network card could not be detected, but I don't know why. I have been able to use wifi without problems before the clean installation. The previous owner of the laptop said that the network card is the 6200-N, and the model number on the sticker says 2904-G2U. I'm not sure if the network card's been changed though.

Can anyone shed some light on my problems? Any help would be appreciated, since this is beginning to be bug me so much.

    Thanks.

If it doesn't work with the Intel 6200 drivers (since you tried both OEM and generic drivers already) try the Intel 5100 drivers instead. However if that fails then it could be that it uses the base ThinkPad branded wireless adaptor instead.

Hey Hearst, thanks for your input. Can't believe that the older 5100 drivers worked. Incidentally, do you know how I can check within windows 7 on the network card used in my T410s?

    Thanks agina.

You can either use the Device Manager or open the Network And Sharing Center for information on the adaptor status. On the left there should be a link called "Change Adaptor Settings" where you can see a list of network adaptors. You can right click on each adaptor with Properties and find out the network adaptor information.

Interesting. When I checked with the device driver it said 6200 but only the 5100 drivers worked...
