    EDIT:

    ok what about this:

    Choice A - 2,431$ (CDN)

    CPU: Intel® Core 2 Duo T7200 - 2000MHz
HDD: ThinkPad 60 GB 7200 rpm Serial ATA Hard Drive (+$246)
    MEM: 1024MB + 512mb (+$93)
VID: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
    SCREEN: 14.1 XGA TFT
    CD/DVD: CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo 24X/24X/24X/8X Max
    WIFI: Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG

    Choice B - 2,238$ (CDN)

    CPU: Intel® Core 2 Duo T7200 - 2000MHz
HDD: ThinkPad 60 GB 7200 rpm Serial ATA Hard Drive (+$246)
    MEM: 1024MB + 512mb (+$93)
VID: ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 HyperMemory 128 MB
    SCREEN: 15.4 WSXGA+ TFT
    CD/DVD: DVD Recordable 24X Max
    WIFI: none

    Comments:

So basicly, the major differences between the two system are:

    • Choice A is 200$ more...
    • Graphic card (no idea wich one is better... how many ram in the intel one ?, dedicated ???)
    • Screen is different too, not sure what the diff is...
    • Choice A come with CDR, while the other come with DVDR (can i write CDR with a DVDR?) i am not a user of dvd so i dont really care, however, a CDR would be nice.
    • Choice B come with wifi, wich is a big plus.

Help and comments are always very appreciated :)

Look at the new Thinkpad T60 widescreen. It suits your requirements. The Z-series is another option.

Just configure one to your liking on Lenovo's site. See what you can do.

1.)The x1400 is much, much better than the GMA950 which is an integrated GPU. The x1400 has 128 dedicated and 128 "hypermemory" which is stolen from main system memory, as needed.
2.) The first screen is 1024x768 14.1 inches 4:3 aspect ratio, the second screen is 1440x1050 15.4 inches 4:3 aspect ratio. One has a higher resolution and is larger.
    3.) You can burn CD's with a DVD-+RW
4.) Almost all laptops today come with integrated WiFi.

I would go for choice #2 as long as you don't mind carrying around a larger computer.

It may have the Thinkpad wireless. It would be helpful if you could post the links to both products.

And yes you can add wireless via PC card, but I don't see why. Wireless is standard now-a-days. Most computers have integrated mini-pci wireless cards. If in fact the model does not offer wireless, you can add an internal mini-pci card. The antenna leads should already be embedded in the screen.

Option one has low res screen, combo drive, intel card and is 14".

Option two has a higher res screen, DVD burner, x1400 and 15.4".

It has wi-fi. It may have the ThinkPad wireless, which is fine, even prefered.
Ask yourself, what size screen do you want? These are two different machines. If you don't mind the extra weight and want the extra screen size, the 2nd option is by far the better buy. Core 2 Duos are still rather expensive on Canadian ThinkPad models.

    i prefer a 15"4, since i wont travel much.

Concerning the wifi, on the 'product description' it say:

Integrated WWAN allows you to get network access almost anywhere/anytime

    wich is perfectly fine :)

HP does have some nice machine too ! However i have a fetish for the IBM :) Choice B might be just want i need, i dont want to have two hdd, and i am not willing to pay 300$ to get a 7200rpm hdd if its not an upgrade. I think ill just stay with the 5400rpm 120gb one

The second one (8744-5BU) actually comes with better wireless, the 802.11n. It is the best one.

    anna, those are ridiculous prices.

you should aim for buying the "topsellers" as they sell at a substantial discount.
moreover, if you pay with your visa, you can go to visaperks.ca and for merchants, click lenovo, and you will get AWSOME deals there. let me know if you need any more help.
