Newbie here, just got my first laptop a few months ago (R61i).

I purchased two X61s's from the Lenovo outlet for my fiancee. I will keep one and sell the other. She will be primarily using it for internet and Microsoft Office, Itunes.

The first one ($1056 after tax):
    C2D 7500
    Vista Business (32)
    Ultralight screen
    2x1G Ram
    80G HD 5400rpm
    4965 ABGN
    8 cell battery
    NO bluetooth, fingerprint reader

The second one ($1375 after tax):
    C2D 7700
    Vista Ultimate
    Ultralight screen
    1G Ram + 1 G Turbo Memory
    100G HD 7200rpm
    4965 ABGN
    8 cell battery
    Bluetooth and Fingerprint reader

My thoughts are that the second one is overkill, why spend the extra $300 for a slightly larger HD, bluetooth, fingerprint. To me, bluetooth and fingerprint aren't a big deal.
Will there be much of a performance difference with basic use (internet, Word, etc)?
For either choice, I'm assuming a memory upgrade would be recommended? If choosing the first one, would I be smart to add Turbo Memory because it has Vista?

    Thanks for your advice.

I own an almost identical laptop to the 2nd one except I have the 120gb 5400 rpm HD and a different OS. I would pick the 1st one in a heartbeat. I NEVER use the bluetooth or fingerprint reader. Moreover, turbo memory is a waste of $ (I have XP pro on now so I can't even use it) and you get 2 gigs of ram with the 1st model so it saves you a few bucks from upgrading ram. All I use my laptop for is AIM, itunes, Office and internet and it flat out flies. that .2ghz processor difference is not worth the difference in price at all. Get the 1st one..if I could do it again I'd skip the BT +turbo memory+ bigger HD...and save up $$$ for a SSD drive as a future purchase.

    Yeah, take the first one.

The T7700 in the second one is way overkill for what your fiance does (but then again, so is the T7500).

The extra RAM will come in handy more than the Turbo Memory in the second laptop. Turbo Memory isn't mature enough to have any noticeable affects on load times; just skip it.

The 7200RPM drive shouldn't make much of a noticeable difference over the 5400RPM drive in what she does, either.

Moreover, since she doesn't use the BT or FP reader, the first one takes the cake.
