Ok, so I got in on this crazy x120e deal for around $330.
I plan to use it for occasional (very) light gaming and blogging, etc.
Well, then I started looking at the T410 which I can get with the nvidia 3100 graphics and an i5 proc. I can get this for around $650 (decent)
I realize they are very different, but I am really torn.
I love the x120e form factor, but the more powerful t410 is tempting, especially at that price. Plus the t410 will have much better performance, as well as moderately better gaming skillz.
Basically, $650 is pretty much my MAX. and the t410 is pretty sweet. Is the keyboard good on the t410? I have heard it is...
HELP!

To get performance and a lighter/slimmer chassis have you considered a HP DM4t instead? i5-560M, Intel HD + HD6370 switchable graphics, 4.4lbs for $700. The HD6370 is about 25% faster than the T410's NVS3100M. Not sure if you'd like the island-style keyboard though.

Will it be your primary computer? If so, use the X120e for a while and see if it meets your needs. If not, you may consider getting the T410 for more screen real estate.
If it is your secondary computer, I would think the X120e is more convenient with its smaller size and lighter weight. Besides, it already has a full-size keyboard (albeit not with the traditional Thinkpads' 7-row layout) and a standard 1366x768 screen resolution. -
It will be secondary.
I have a nice desktop, so this is really just for writing. That is why I wanted the x120e in the first place...the sweet keyboard.
I am only second guessing because of the deal on the t410. I would be most happy with the x201, I think but they are all Intel HD graphics, right?
Oh well, I think you are right I should wait and see how I like the x120e. -
Oh, but there are always great deals on everything... perhaps less than a year down the road, there will be great deals on the more-impressive T420. Can't snatch them all without a bottomless wallet
If you're talking about the integrated graphics models of the T410 and X201, yes, their GPUs are identical given the same CPU, so performance would be the same. -
I typing this on the x120e, the pixel density on this device is crazy high. The T410 is a more powerful pc and have a screen with lower pixel density but the x120e is powerful enough to do everything you want it to do.

X120e. I find myself using my netbook a lot, and thats even with its anemic performance and less than optimal keyboard, the X120e is much faster. The form factor of an ultraportable computer is really convenient. I would recommend the X120e since it is going to be a secondary machine.
-
Now that I think about it, I am more of a netbook guy. I also know that when I saw the x100e I loved it.
A LOT of people are installing SSD and 8GB of ram in these x120e's and making them little super fast bunny rabbits. I may do that if I can score a good deal.
thx all. -

I own a t410 i5 with the discrete graphics card and the ssd options and have purchased the x120e.
I am heavily thinking about selling the t410 after judging the performance of the x120e. Reason being is the school I am planning to transfer into will have a mandatory laptop leasing program and guess what the laptop is.... a t410!!
Anyways I havent got my x120e yet, but I do have 8gigs of ram standing by and a wd black 500gb to make into a super fast bunny rabbit. I can give you my opinion on it if you like after I get the machine. -

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Any consumer HP is terrible. Their trackpads are near dead last, worse than Acer/Gateway/eMachines. That and they are awful to service and I feel cheaply built, nothing good comes from HP consumer.
-
Yeah, I didn't want to say anything, but HP consumer is not an option.
That is why I posted this in the Lenovo area and not in the "help me choose" section.
I would consider a Probook, but couldn't find one that fit the bill.
I will keep my eyes open for deals on things though. With so many new products coming out they may drop some sweet deals along the way. Or maybe another website mistake?
Help me choose, T410 or x120e
