Hello. It looks like out of all the notebooks the Lenovo seems to be the best.

With that being said: I am looking for a laptop which is very sturdy while at the same time, some of the high end business features may be a waste since I am not a corporate user.

I also am looking for something between 13 and 14" that is not too heavy to bring with me all over.

Out of all the Lenovo models in this range which one would you recommend? I want something with the best performance specs and stability for on the go mobility and best build quality and battery life while at the same time being light enough to travel on a constant basis.

Thanks. I can't decide between the consumer end and the business end models.

I think the T400 is the one you're looking for. It'll be the perfect compromise between performance and weight. You'll also get the business class battery life as seen in the T400 review.

Just ignore the sl300, X301 is the best among your option if you can stand the price...

Obviously X301 if I want to spend the money, T400 if I don't for business class.

But how do the business class models compare with the consumer grade laptops in terms of build quality and battery life?

Is it true that all the business class notebooks are better even if one is a consumer and not a business for build quality and battery life and the like?

I would never touch a non business class laptop from anyone. T / X / W series or Dell Latitude is the way I go.

i say no to the businessclass question. business notebooks shift priorities from "bells and whistles" to clean, simple and stability. i like the usual added durability of a business class machine, but sometimes you lose the cutting edge appeal. it all depends on your computer personality. i could never own a macbook air. it would be broken in about 17 minutes (plus its a mac ;) ) because i would sit on it, trip on it, drop it, ect.

i have used toughbooks, miltopes, and a couple other spec machines that were pretty basic, but would work in 120 degree and cooled by sand. its really up to you.

The U330 sounds like it would be a good fit for you if you don't go business class.

It has specs for good performance, it's about 4lbs and it sounds sturdy (I've never seen it in person).

The T400 and X301 are going to be much more sturdier.

I have not heard people say many good things about the SL300.

The general consensus is that the entire SL series is a wannabe Thinkpad in regards to features, design, and keyboard.

Personally, I believe you might as well go for the real deal (T400 or X301) if you want the business quality or U330 if you want a thin and light with all the bells and whistles.

I've heard some bad things about SL400 (ethernet issues) that is why I said ignore SL300. I personally don't like the design of SL series also.
