I have bought thinkpad T400 one month ago with a 6 cell battery, and now,The count cycle of battery is 15, the design capacity is 56.16Wh,and the full charge capacity is 56.42Wh now, the charge threshold option is set like this image

Ok,That is some information about my thinkpad battery, so i have some question here:

1/ Is it normal with these information? (i using My T400 about 1 month )

2/How can i control the count cycle of battery? Because it is always increase, but i don't know exactly when it is increase .

3/ Please help me set the charge threshold option for the best use of battery

4/So i found that the "full charge capacity" is decreasing for each day?

(My English is not good, sorry :) )

    1) Cant say any about that. dont own a T400

    2) It always increases by 1 if you power up your battery
(eg: u use standard option with 96% rule:
notebook plugs in, battery is on 95%, charges --> counter +1
notebook plugs in, battery is on 98%, no charge--> no counter)

3)i always used a 10% remain capacity rule and switched to 96% rule manually if i wanted to take my T60 on a trip next day

    4) it may be your capacity decreases with every cycle (explanation see point 2)

The "best use of battery" that you mention depends on what you need it for. If you're rarely going to use it, then don't set it to charge fully. Set it to something low like 35%.

If you need it often, then sure go ahead and let it charge fully, but then be sure that you're frequently discharging it too instead of leaving it at 100% all of the time.

"Optimize for battery life span" as someone else pointed out in another thread, doesn't really do anything other than charge it to 100% and ends up killing your battery probably within a year.

Your best bet is to determine your daily battery use and then set your charge thresholds manually. It all depends on how much you plan on using it.

yeah, I get it, i always plugs in the AC adapter, so now I set charge threshold in 60%-100%....it's very good, and now I know how do the counter of count cycle count. thanks a lot!
