I'm having problems understanding the T61 datasheet (pdf) as I'm not very well oriented with laptops in general.
I'm looking to buy the Thinkpad T61 14-inch. I want it widescreen and the highest resolution possible. This laptop will be used for development and general computing. No gaming (Must resist).
Whats the difference between the Quadro NVS 140M (128mb) and Intel GMAX3100 GM965 w/o WWAN
I'm assuming the Quadro is more powerful. Is the WWAN referring to wireless? (yes i'm very noobish)
Also, the display. It gives me the choice of 14.1 XGA TFT and 14.1 SXGA+ TFT (add 30.00). What are the difference in resolution between the 2?
Under system expansion slots it gives me the option for PC Card Slot & Express Card Slot or PC Card Slot & Smart Card slot? I'm not entirely sure what those are? I was thinking it was referring to flash card readers.
Finally, the wireless card. What the heck is the better choice? They all sound the same to me. Thinkpad 11a/b/g Wi-Fi wireless LAN mini-PCIe? Intel PRO/Wirless 3945ABG? or Intel Wireless Wifi Link 4965AGN? I was hoping that w/ the new N networks (as opposed to a, g and b) i could have that capability with the last? But i'd like to confirm this before i spend money on it.
Thanks in advanced for anyone who bothers reading this post.

Quadro NVS 140M is a dedicated card. For you, get the Intel (integrated) since you don't want to do gaming.
WWAN stands for Wireless Wide Area Network. It's where you use cellular providers (Verizon, Cingular, etc.) to connect to the internet.
XGA = 1024x768 SXGA+ = 1400x1050
The card slots are just different types of readers. In general just stick with Express Card Slot unless you specifically need/want the Smart Card Slot (though since you ask... you probably don't need it ) It doesn't have anything to do with flash cards.
4965 is draft N. Some will work, some won't... you have to check the router for compatibility. -
Indeed, Quadro NVS 140M (dedicated card) is more powerful than X3100 (integrated) but as a consequence the battery will last longer with the X3100.
SXGA+ has a higher resolution than XGA but those two screens aren't widescreen -
I will attempt to answer.
Help custom building my T61!
