Hello everyone, Recently my laptop developed bright spots ,and they were not covered by the warrinity. So I am going to replace the screen myself. I am currently very lost.
My old laptop was x230 model 2306CTO ,and my display model was X230 12.5HD Premium WWAN 2x2 with the X230 720p HD Camera. Now my question is are these 2 screens better than my old one(aka wont get bright spots easily) ,and will they work with my laptop 12 5"LCD Screen for Lenovo ThinkPad X230 LED Laptop Display Slim WXGA HD New | eBay or Amazon.com: LG PHILIPS LP125WH2(SL)(B3) LAPTOP LCD SCREEN 12.5" WXGA HD LED SINGLE (SUBSTITUTE REPLACEMENT LCD SCREEN ONLY. NOT A LAPTOP ): Computers & Accessories
I will be using online YouTube video guides to help my installation process.
If anyone can help me I would be very appreciated , the whole customer support with lenovo on the phone has been terrible while the online lenovo forums have been helpful. They directed me to research my own repair.

If anyone just knows where I can find the information to determine if those screens will work with my laptop just let me know please. I need to fix my laptop before classes start again.

The eBay one doesn't look like a genuine part. Can't say much about the one on Amazon.
This is the real deal:
Lenovo ThinkPad X230 LCD LED Screen Matte 12 5" LP125WH2 SL B3 | eBay (used)
New LG LP125WH2 SL B3 12 5" HD LED LCD Screen LP125WH2 SLB3 | eBay (new)
I'm not affiliated with any of the sellers above, proceed at your own risk. -
Thank you so much. I just ordered the new screen one from ebay. I will let you know how the installation goes.
Also if you know what kind of tools I will need to open the screen like only a screw driver, it would be much appreciated. -
A screwdriver will do just fine, one small Philips.
Make sure to study the HMM, and preferably have it open on another computer while working:

Good luck. -
The white spots you referred to are probably pressure marks caused by impact on the screen or pressure if weight is applied to the closed laptop, or if the laptop is closed with something between the screen and keyboard. Some models are better protected than others when closed. If used carefully a screen won't develop these blemishes.
Also the fact that they weren't covered by warranty would lead me to believe they were caused by external pressure. If they naturally occurred on the screen due to defect it would have been covered.
I can't give an opinion on this since I haven't seen them, but if they are pressure marks it can happen to the new screen if it's subjected to the same conditions. -
thedog1, it seems you've already ordered a screen, but I think if you had told support that your panel was exhibiting image retention they would've given you a replacement. You're unfortunately going to have to baby your laptop after this.
