    Hi,

I've installed Windows XP Pro on my Lenovo x61 and it has no drivers! I cannot connect to the internet, the wireless does not work, etc.

Is there an easy way to fix this? I tried going here:

    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-67971.html

I downloaded some of those on my desktop and burned them to a CD then installed on the laptop (It is able to see the USB disk drive) to no avail.

The laptop came with recovery disks, but they don't seem to work for installing regular old drivers...

    Help!

    Thanks!!!

Please follow the guide in my signature.

Tip: Once you download those drivers, simply double clicking them and going through the process will not install the drivers, it will only extract them to the designated destination on your HDD. Follow the instructions listed on the download page in order to install the drivers.

Okay, that guide looks like exactly what I need! One thing, however, is that I have no idea what chipset I have. Are all the x61's the same?

I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions for installing those drivers but the one unnerving thing was that when I went to copy the files to a CD from my desktop, it said something about there being other files attached that would not copy over correctly... The same thing happened when I downloaded service pack two...

Anyhow, when I went to install them I followed the path given on the ibm website and ran the little setup thing, but it didn't seem to do anything...

I even tried going into file manager, deleting the ethernet "driver" that was there (didn't work, had a yellow questionmark thing), and re installing the new driver (following the path instead of straight off the cd).

Perhaps I need the chipset driver? I really don't know too much about this driver stuff... yet...

Yeah, the chipset driver is important.

    From my guide,

If you follow the guide word for word, you should have no problems.
