Q1: I am guessing the common standards MMC/SD/etc, nothing wacky or proprietary

    Q2: Yes

    Q3: Yes, and FW too

Q4: Even the business black units feel nice and stiff with really good build quality. Overall build and software was really top notch compared to my old hp business laptop. Its security software actually WORKED!

What is FW? Personally, I find the ThinkLight to be a great idea in theory, but nearly useless as implemented - at least on mine. The screen sheds enough light that the ThinkLight is barely noticable.

Now, I don't think this detracts from the computer; it has a lot going for it, which is why I kept it, even in considering the possibility of a T60 or a Gateway dual-core.

A1: Keyboard, mouse and screen. Ergonomics are very important if you are to be working with this laptop for a long time. Also to get a feeling of general sturdiness, press it with moderate strength at various spots to check for flex (see below), creakiness, screen ripple, loose parts.

A2: Flex either replies to screen ripple as a result of a hard press against the screen lid, the effect of multiple keyboard keys (or the entire keyboard) moving when you press one key or a general soft feeling of the case at some spots.

A3: All of them except the economy-models (R50e/R51e) I think.

A4: Oh, yeah. I'm having Messenger chats a lot with the built-in mic.

A5: The Z60m should be a good and sturdy laptop. I think most of the complaints are not on the quality per se, but on the looks. The mouse buttons, the extra keys, the laptop edges and the general appearance just don't look as polished as the latest T/X-series. But it's not a biggy. I'm not familiar with the CD drive problems. Perhaps someone else will fill you in on that.

Edit: to remove smileys in posts - tick "disable smilies in text" in the "additional options" when you reply (not quick reply).

To remove a selected :D smiley , simply put a space between the : and the D, like that : D

    concerning the z60m...
what material is used on the backside of the screen on the non-titanium z60m's (or z60t)?
Is it the same strong alloy material as the T-series or is it cheap plastic?
