ati2evxx.exe was going nuts taking up 50-80% of the cpu and half the memory. It started this morning although nothing else I can think of changed. I've got the thing disabled now and it Seems I'm back to normal but what are the ramifications of having done this? Should it get fixed and if so how?! Thank you for any insight.

On another note, during my efforts to deal with the problem I thought to 'switch' the graphics card as this t400 is supposed to be able to do that. I followed the directions in another post (left click the battery etc.) but I do not have an option to say 'yes' to anything.

    Thank you!

ati2evxx.exe is a hotkey poller for the your dedicated graphics card. it is pretty much useless, in my opinion.

a lot of people disable this process in msconfig without any issues. i can't help with your graphics card switching unless i know your operating system. if you are running xp you have to switch in bios.

Thank you! I'll not worry about that thing any more then. I did get the graphics card switched - thanks again!
