    Thanks that solved that problem.

Other issues: The cdrw/dvdrw drive makes a loud noise when I intially put cds in for a about a minute and the whole computer vibrates slightly. Problem with the drive???

Also when I go into standby makes a loud beep.

    Thanks in advance

The drive on my T60 is also quite loud. I believe that there's an option to put it into a quieter mode, but it will run slower (the drive).

The beep is normal. By default it beeps when you unplug or plug in your laptop, when you go into Standby, etc. You can turn it off if you like by opening the ThinkVantage Power Manager, clicking on the Global Power Settings tab, and unchecking the box that says "Beep when power state changes".
