    Hello,

I was just told by Lenovo Tier 1 support that Lenovo only allows their own proprietary hard drives to be used. I am bumming because I waited 4 months to upgrade for this Seagate Momentus 7200.4 Hard drive for the X60s.

Can anyone else confirm this or have a work around? Didnt IBM learn from Windows about reverse engineering?

    Any feedback would be appreciated

    john

    Wow!,

Thanks for the quick reply. I did some research and I heard about necessary firmware upgrades through a bootable CD that you had to burn and you had to mess around in the BIOS to change a storage CAP and also the drive was dependent on the serial number on the bottom of the laptop.

    Do you have the 7200.4?

    Thanks

    john

I installed a Fujitsu HD in my X61 which came with the stock Hitachi. It works fine, though I had to change into compatibility mode in the bios to install XP.
