So my 14" SXGA+ T61p came in yesterday morning (ordered 8/28, shipped from Hong Kong 8/31).

I didn't notice it until late last night that there was a very slight dent on the rear edge of the LCD cover (outer side) approximately mid way between the two hinges. The dent was so subtle that I didn't notice it during my visual inspection as I was unpacking the box. I happened to run my fingers through the edge last night and felt it with my fingers. I was only able to see it when light is coming from a certain angle.

Now the question is what should I do? If I call them, do you think they will build me a new laptop and do an even exchange? Or will they tell me to ship it to the repair center and they'll replace the LCD cover? I wouldn't want them to take it apart and mess with a brand new laptop.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: I doubt that the dent was caused during shipping. I looked at the packaging and the laptop was "suspended" by the styrofoam stands and there was nothing touching the LCD cover. Therefore it must have happened in the factory.

Also I have 1 stuck pixel (bright green) about 1" from the bottom of the screen above approximately the hard disk activity light.

Between these two problems, will I have a better case when I call them for a brand new replacement?

Because of the rubber casing it is easy to see(feel) the roll cage underneath the casing. I have the same laptop and I think I know the dent you are talking about. It is an indent right? Why are you worried about it? There is a screw hole on the other side and it probably has something to do with that indent, try and loosen it or tighten it if you are brave, but make sure to let me know how it turns out :p

Also, you'll need alot more then 1 stuck pixel for a return.

Theres a difference between stuck pixels and dead pixels, I think you can get a new LCD with just one stuck pixel. I'm not a 100% sure about this though, so you would need to talk with tech support.

Stuck pixels are more annoying so they have a lower policy then dead ones.

Isn't a dead pixel more worse having a stuck pixel? stuck pixels can sometimes be fixed, while a dead one is dead

No, stuck pixels are worse. Lets think about it for a moment, lets say if your playing a game with lots of a single color, like black. If you happen to have a red or some colored stuck pixel it would stand out quite a bit, compared to a dead pixel that doesn't show any color.

Don't forget that stuck pixels have more of a chance of being fixed rather then dead ones, theres stuff you can google to find out more.
