Today I cancelled the xps m1530 order because they have too much problem.
So Im looking for a good laptop.
I never know about this brand, I always used dell products.
My university has discount for lenovo notebooks, so I wonder if this brand is a good laptop. Does it have some problems like the m1530??
I want to know the good and bad things.
By the way I like the IdeaPad U330

It was almost same as the lenovo, only with the diference that the m1530 was 2.4ghz and 3 year warranty.

IMO Lenovo is one of the best brands of which you should acquire a new desktop/laptop machine. Personally have been using Thinkpads since 2001 and not a single one had any type of problem with motherboard, screen, etc. I think you would not regret buying a Lenovo.

Dell XPS's can't even hold a candle to the build quality of a Thinkpad to be honest.

    U330 :D

The Y430/Y530 are not a bad choice either, but it's not as portable as the U330.

No idea about the Ideapads, but the Thinkpads are solid. I know what problems you're having with the m1530. That thing initially feels solid and then over a little time you start noticing all the build quality issues. Sadly, that's their flagship, consumer line too. I don't have my T400 yet, but if past Thinkpads are any indication, it will be much, much better than the m1530. I'm incredibly abusive with my laptops, and I couldn't think of a better brand to carry.

Yeah you should take a look at the T400 also. I think the U330 or the T400 is good for your needs.

Well, it's good to point out that the U330 is a 13" LCD notebook. It's significantly smaller than the M1530, so it'll be easier to carry on campus. There hasn't been many 'reviews' on the U330, but it looks good on paper. Apparently, the U330 borrows the ThinkPad's keyboard quality, so that's a huge plus for a student.

If you're going to go with Lenovo, I recommend either the IdeaPad U330, or the ThinkPad T400. (I'd go for the T400 ;))

The Sims 2 is a great game. I play it all the time, too.

The U330 should be able to play it no problem.

Yeah the IdeaPads always had pretty solid keyboards like the ThinkPads, even with the previous generation. The U330 also come with the ThinkPad Active Protection System, which is great for moving around.

The ATI 3450 should be good enough for Sims 2.

The S series? Those are netbooks, not very powerful.

The S series is a 10.2" LCD netbook. I wouldn't recommend it for school.

    2.0GHz is plenty.

If you want to use 4GB RAM, then go with 64-bit. Otherwise, 32-bit all the way.

It's also good to note that the U330 uses the newer DDR3 memory, so your system should run extra smooth.

You can't change it to 4 GB or 64-bit directly from Lenovo. You can add that extra GB later yourself, same for the 64-bit Vista, your product key works for both 32-bit and 64-bit.

For now, I'd say stick with 32-bit, especially if you're not sure. Vista 64-bit still has some compatibility issues. And it's not always faster, it depends what apps you're running. Here are some benchmarks, the difference is really not dramatic with most of the apps today. Even at 4 GB, your Vista 32-bit might still able to use up to 3.75 GB, depending on the hardware/bios/chipset. So if you're going with the U330, trying using the Vista 32-bit first before deciding if you really need to use 64-bit.
