My t61P has crashed twice in the last two weeks, both while on battery supply and while booting from sleep mode. This has been a reoccurring problem and in the past has happened while on battery and direct power. I has also crashed while I am running applications but most while booting from sleep mode.

I finally caught the stop code which is, 0x0000007F. I looked into the code and apparently it can be any piece of my hardware failing or improper drivers. Is there a way to narrow down what the problem could be?

Is this a common crash for T61ps? I know when I was first buying the T61P w/ Nvidia Quadro FX570M there was a recall with some of them having a factory flaw that resulted in frequent crashes, is there away to check to see if this is one of them without sending it in? I am in school right now so I need my laptop and with the stories I have heard I don't want to send in my laptop to find out there is nothing they can do to fix it and get it back a month later all screwed up.

Hopefully it's not th gfx card failling! Are you running windows vista? Have you installed all the new windows updates? I believe there's a fix for the sleep mode issue you're having! Have you tried installing a new nvidia driver btw?

I would reinstall windows if the above didn't do the trick, to iliminate the software side; but you'll only be left with the option to send in the laptop. I'd strongly advice to do it asap, before the warrenty expires; and you'll be left with a dead machine in hand :/

as bfe130 said above, it's most likely bad memory. this KB article by microsoft covers 0x0000007F and points toward memory being the first thing to check.

the faulty system planars in FX570M-equipped T61ps had nothing to do with the quadro chip as pointed out by mark @ lenovo here.   the problem was with a bad resistor value on the board itself, causing systems with two memory modules installed to crash when the video chipset was used heavily.

i would refer to this post and do a parts lookup on your system to see which planar is installed.   if you don't have planar FRU 44C3931 then call lenovo service in your area ( link) to get this fixed.

if your problem isn't the system planar then i suggest testing your memory using an app like memtest86+.
