Hello, I am considering to buy a Lenovo T60p, and I have a few questions.

    1) Has the quality of the IBM notebooks went down since the takeover by Lenovo?

    2) How is the overall feel of the chassis and lid of the notebook? Does the plastic have a solid feel or cheap feel? Is there any noticeable flex anywhere (on the keyboard, hand rests, lid)?

    3) How hot does the chassis of the T30 get in all spots?

    4) I know that the FireGL 5200 is basically a slightly modified X1600, but I have heard that there are many problems with this video card when playing any kind of game (OpenGL problems). Are these rumors true, and if they are, would the Omega drivers fix any recurring problems when playing games?

    5) I have also heard that the video card overheats to the point where the laptop shuts down when playing games. Is this true?

    6) On the thinkpad.com forums I have heard people talking about a burning smell coming from their laptop. Is it true that you get a burning smell even under heavy load?

    7) How is the quality of the flexview UXGA screen (brightness, viewing angles, light leakage, etc...)

    Thanks a lot in advance!

    3) How hot does the chassis of the T30 get in all spots? <so far, very littel heat, but I've only had it a short time>

I recently bought a T60p online and here is just my experiences:

    1) The quality was not as good as I expected but still one of the better built laptops out there.
    2) The lid is great, takes two hands to open. There is slight flex on the extreme right of the right palmrest. You have to go out of your way to press there though. The keyboard I found to be of average quality, I still don't see why the Thinkpad keyboard is legendary.
    3) No where feels anywhere near hot, only the left palmrest feels slighly warm after a while. No where near the heat on the Asus W3J.
    4) I've been playing the Source games, Rome Total War, and AOE 3 on there with no probs. I don't know about others.
    5) Hasn't happened to me, been playing games for a few hours, didn't notice the heat.
6)No idea where they got that.
    7) Screen is great, except the type is REALLY small because of the high resolution. The Lenovo website recently edited it so that with the t60p, you can customize to a t2600 or t2700 with a flexview at a lower res, but if you want the t2500, you can only get the 1600x1200 screen. The other two processers cost about 150 and 300 bucks more respectively.

Good luck with your notebook shopping =).

One more note: the keyboards vary, because they're not all made by the same manufacturer. In particular, the Chicony keyboards are a little mushy.

Oh and incidentally, that clown is frickin' scary.

Just got my T60p today. 1600*1200 is great.
Havn't run for a long time so I don't know about the heat.

One thing annoying me is that, the font size is not all the same.
It there any way to set, for example, the font in the first level of Start menu which is much bigger and uglier than the font in the "All Programs" menu.
