Ok, I was wondering if I wasn't the only one with heat issue regarding the right side of the X60. I did a lot of reading and most said it's the wireless (especially the atheros one). I was wondering beside turning off the wireless, is there any other solution to lower the temp of the right palm, because with the A/C plug in, it could get quite warm/hot. Running on battery was a little better but still pretty warm. I upgrade to the latest driver over Lenovo site but it doesn't seem to make that much of a difference with the temperature. Any feedbacks would greatly be appreciated.

I dont think its the wireless. It's probably the hard drive. I mean, of course you could try it out by using the laptop with the wireless disabled. I myself dont have a X60, but my friend just got one and that is what I deduced it to be.

yes the right palm of the x-series is warm and indeed it's the wireless card.
The machine is half an inch thin there, with so much crammed in a small space it's gonna warm up.
More fans would dissapate the heat, but that would run the battery down quicker.
The atheros is slightly warmer but they're all warm... but the atheros is a better performing card especially on the X-series (many x-series owners with the intel card have reported wireless performance issues).
Try disabling the wireless and you should notice it's less warm.
That's how it is.
If you want cooler, lug around a T60... they're twice as bulky but all that extra space enables the T60 to be cooler. -
I love my T60 Granted when my friend uses his X60, its very light and thin and very attractive, but my T60 by far I love more. Much more powerful. Yes its heavier and bigger, but I cannot get used to the small screen. While the resolution is perfect for the 12.1" XGA screen, I am so used to the 1680x1050 15.4"

Heheheh...I guess I just have to stick with it in the mean time, till that HP tX1000Z drop down below 1k. Yeah, I did test it with wireless off and it's definitely super cool.

Hi,
I got this before, just update your wireless driver, the driver will cool your x60's right part down.
