Headphone jack placement on the T61 (and other models) sucks!

If you have a set of decent headphones(most of the better headphones have a pretty big connector) hooked up to the front jack you cant really use it on your lap.

I'd rather have the usb ports up front and the audio jacks on the side.

haha, ok i'm done venting. laptop itself is great though :)

15" has them on the side.

    No problems with my MS-1.

It's not like the on board sound is any good, and if you are using any kind of high end HP then you should be running it off of a external DAC/AMP.

I've had the same problem but now I use USB headphones, they plug in on the side :).

i totally agree with you on using a headphone amp, (which i do have), but if i'm on a bus i generally don't use it just because i'm afraid of the extra weight dangling from the headphone jack. If I'm using it on a table then thats a different story.

Grid, what type of USB headphones are you using?

USB ports up front? Are you kidding me? Imagine sticking a flash drive there, or connecting a mouse. That's just as bad an idea as the front headphone port, if not worse.

I have Plantronics DSP-500 headset that I use for Skype and laptop music, good sound quality, comfortable and great for VoIP.

we have one right next to the optical drive, thats the one that i would be using the most. I don't think I would ever have much use for usb ports on the go.

but yes, flash drive up front would be a nightmare, i've broken three of them(el cheapo models) in the past during my college days when my chair would hit my tower(had two usb ports up front).

If you have a dock...then I think the headphone port in front is great...just my 2 cents...
