If you have a set of decent headphones(most of the better headphones have a pretty big connector) hooked up to the front jack you cant really use it on your lap.
I'd rather have the usb ports up front and the audio jacks on the side.
haha, ok i'm done venting. laptop itself is great though

15" has them on the side.
No problems with my MS-1.
It's not like the on board sound is any good, and if you are using any kind of high end HP then you should be running it off of a external DAC/AMP. -
I've had the same problem but now I use USB headphones, they plug in on the side .
-
Grid, what type of USB headphones are you using? -
-
I have Plantronics DSP-500 headset that I use for Skype and laptop music, good sound quality, comfortable and great for VoIP.
-
but yes, flash drive up front would be a nightmare, i've broken three of them(el cheapo models) in the past during my college days when my chair would hit my tower(had two usb ports up front). -
Nobody can make everybody happy...

If you have a dock...then I think the headphone port in front is great...just my 2 cents...
Headphone jack placement on the T61 (and other models) sucks!
