I have recently bought a lenovo X230 laptop, I wish to use an external monitor, but unfortuntely the display on the external monitor is problematic. In fact, without the external monitor, the display of laaptop itself is Ok, but when i am connecting them to each other the quality of the display is decreasing
So I would really appreciate, if anyone can give me some advises for display setting suitable for X230 (resolution, Hrz and etc)
Tnx so much in advance.

When you say the quality is decreasing... what exactly do you mean by that? As in the resolution or the picture itself decreases?
Little more info would help to isolate the issue. -
I have the same problem with X230t. Unable to have 1900x1200 on my old Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM with cable VGA to VGA on the dock station. The screen is oversize and I am unable to see the start button.
Thanks for your reply! -
so, did you right click the desktop, choose screen resolution, then adjust the monitors individually?
-
Yes I did adjust the monitors individually. Do you think the VGA connection is the problem?

Thanks for your replies. I am out but will try the proposed solutions and give an update.

Hi!
Here is my follow-up. I just bought and active displayport to DVI converter with a DVI cable connected to my monitor. My X230t is unable to identify my Samsung 2493hm. I have tried the displayport from the dock and from X230t without success. Very disapointed with the X230t. -
which converter did you get? -

I believe the one below is the one I bought (no branding on the actual cord to be sure), but I got the 6" version rather than 10.
Newegg.com - StarTech Model DP2DVIMM10 10 ft. DisplayPort to DVI Video Converter Cable M-M -
the startech converter is good. I just got one and it worked on the 1st trial.
Having problem with an external monitor!
