In that the thinkpad died before you expected it to ?

No, I have purchased IBM Thinkpads since the early 90s. I have also purchased about 8 used ones. Only had problem with one after a years.

None. I purchased a used X30 and just recently a T40. I sold the X30 since I have no use for it anymore and use the T40 for now until my X61s arrives. Both laptops are pretty damn well built.

Bought my first and only, a refurbished T40. Seemingly nowhere near death, I only ask of it some basic tasks when I am away from my desktop.

It hasn't taken to iTunes very well...trying to do anything else while running iTunes results in musical hiccups. Winamp and WMP11 are okay, so I just use those.

So, the answer is no, I don't regret it. I am absolutely impressed by how much better it is than my old Pavilion ze5300 P4 lappy, which would be roughly the same age (had it not shorted out...).
