I ordered my x220 recently on Lenovo.com(4.24), and I forgot to change the wifi adapter from original Thinkpad one to intel... cuz I saw a lot of people claim that the thinkpad one is not good enough. I wanna change the order, but it will delay my order process 3-5 bus days which I cannot accept..:< I was wondering can I use the mini-pci port to get another intel 6300 wifi-card and using the thinkpad one at the same time? Thanks alot!

by the way, I really curious about when will my x220 can ship ^0^, does any one have the same order date and order(i7+premium screen+4g ddr3+6cell+nothing!)?

Personally, I'd see how it goes before you decide it's bad. You can always swap out the card later if need be.

You can get that would come with the laptop and put another card. It's not more harder than to put the card into a free slot. But the card for the replacement should be with the correct firmware for Lenovo BIOS.

PS Each slot check for "white list", it's hard to just say so what happens if in WWAN slot put the WLAN card with no personal experience.

You can replace the ThinkPad card with the Intel card. Just make sure you use a Lenovo branded card as it won't work otherwise without a BIOS hack.

to be honest there's almost no difference between the thinkpad b/g/n and intel wireless n-1000. For all intents and purposes they offer the same performance. So I wouldn't be too worried about it, unless you are planning to get a much better card.

A Lenovo branded card will have a FRU on it.

I ordered an x220 and went with the intel n-1000 because I don't have a dual band router but now I'm kind of regretting i didn't the the 2x2 Intel 6XXX or the 3x3 antenna version. Is there any difference between the intel n-1000 and the dual band 2x2 if my router is your standard linksys? I would assume there isn't much of a difference at all right?

Standard Linksys Router??? Which one? Linksys now has an E4200 3x3 dual band 450mbps model. It's not THAT expensive and was on sale a week ago at Best Buy when I bought it to upgrade from a WRT-54G.

Although how you can fill up that bandwidth is questionable. My assumption is with the right server or NAS you may be able to utilize the bandwidth, so I ordered the 3x3 card for my W520. But my cable modem internet connection ain't going to top it out!

But you're right. If you aren't intending to upgrade your router it's not going to do you much good to go 2x2, or 3x3. It just gives you future options, and is harder but certainly not impossible to upgrade later.
