    Hello,
As some of you know, I recently purchased a T61, and now I'm in the market for some accesories. Now I need your guys' opinons. The laptop is coming w/ a 6 cell battery, should I buy a 9 cell, and use the 6 cell as a back up. Or keep the 6 cell, and get an ultrabay battery? Which combo would be most advantageous? Thanks for your tips

you should get the 9 cell it will last a whole lot loger and keep the 6 cell as back up ..thats what i would do ..youd bag yourself close to 6 hours of power with the 2 batteries...4:30 hours for the 9cell and 2:30 for the 9 cell

Since it always discharges first, the modular battery wears out rather quickly.

Check the Thinkpad sticky thread for that. There are specific recommendations about batteries and the storage thereof.

Refer to the Battery Guide here on NBR for more information on battery maintenance.

I have an ultra bay battery and while I think it's nice, another 9 cell would WAY outperform it. Looking at the price between the 2 the 9 cell is definetly more bang for your buck.

I would think that the only use of the ultra bay battery is for someone that wants more unplugged time without carrying separate accessories with the laptop. It provides a "cleaner" solution sort of. The other reason to go ultra bay is to avoid having to suspend the laptop use in the middle to swap batteries.

Well, the ultrabay battery discharges first so it's utility as a battery for when you want to swap the main battery is limited. Basically, if you planned to use it like that, you would have to stick it in when the main battery is about dead, let it run until it's about dead, then swap the main while it still has charge.
