The LCD on my x61s is damaged, and I'm wondering what to do.

I called Lenovo tech support to try and get an idea of what it would cost to have them fix it and look over the rest of the notebook to make sure everything was OK. But the only thing the guy on the phone would tell me was that "No matter what, it won't cost more than $950." Thanks a lot for the help.

Has anyone had a screen replaced by Lenovo? Approximate price?

Other option - DIY. This eBay seller is selling x61 LCD screens for $180 with shipping. Looking at his feedback, people seem to be happy with the screens he is selling. I have swapped out simple things like RAM, HDDs, or GPUs in my desktop, but have never disassembled a notebook. Is installing an LCD something I should be able to handle as a mechanically inclined person?

    Thanks,

    Mac
