    Topic says it all.

Has anyone found a nice display to put into this machine. Any display without a screen door effect? Any IPS display?
(Please let's not discuss whether this is warranted or not)

Has anyone actually done the upgrade?

    Thx.

    There is no such screen.

Why would you want to change it? It has good colors (sRGB, better than most IPS out there), good contrast and black levels, good viewing angles and is bright. What more do you want?

I would want a display without screendoor effect. That would really be much appreciated. I seriously notice it all the time when working with white background.

If that's all you want, the new T431s has different panel manufacturers than the X1C. Maybe we're lucky and get some screendoorless panels this time round.

I had the X1C in front me too, and I didn't notice any such effect. However, when I put my nose right on front of the panel, I saw it too. To reduce the effect alltogether you can try putting a glossy screen protector on it. This might or might not help.

I have a T420, my wife has a T420s and I had a T430s here the other day that I returned (only because seller sent wrong model),all 1600x900 and they are all supposed to have "Screen Door" effect but they all look fine to me and my wife. I wish they had higher contrast but and slightly wider vertical angle but they all look good. And I've had a T41p and T61 and when I did use it the other day it felt archaic. I also have Dell Ultra Sharp IPS 24" at home and work (wife does too) and know what a good IPS screen looks like.

I have Carbon on the way I don't think I'll be disappoint based on the reviews (many of which commented on the screen door effect).

Some people could not stand some plasma TV's, but if you start looking for problems you'll find them and sensitize yourself to them.

I think the whole screen door thing is more OCD than anything.

Please. This isn't a figment of imagination. There are three suppliers for the screens on the T series and I have owned several T420's and T420s models.

When the screen sucks, it sucks. When it is good enough, then clearly it leads to comments like yours.

I collect machines with high quality displays as do other people here. I have a T60p with a stellar FlexView display. I have Apple iPads with Retina screens. I am typing this on a Samsung Series 9 notebook with a PLS display. I have owned the Retina MacBook Pro. I have the W510 and W530 with good FHD displays. Some day I'll have a DreamColor.

Some of us have direct experience with a variety of displays that set the bar. It isn't OCD when we desire better displays for ThinkPads.

Are you in media/design? Just curious why you have gone through so many different machines...

And TBH, not many people would buy a X1C for its graphics... if they are, they're looking at the wrong machine.

The screen door effect bothered me at first like everyone else... I rarely run at full brightness though, so for the most part, people are being OCD about the screen who it doesn't really matter for.
