Has anyone tried the X300 swappable DVD drive in the ultrabase 3?

Just wondering. Lenovo order support said it won't work, but thought I'd ask if anyone has tried. Ordered the X220 and already have an X300 with DVD drive that my son will be using. If I can swap the drive with the ultrabase, it makes the ultrabase a more attractive purchase for me. Thank you, as always, for your help. I've tried searching but my tapatalk app isn't letting me search today. Thanks!

lenovo support is correct.   the ultrabase 3 uses a SATA connection and the X300 optical bay uses EIDE.   they're physically incompatible.

Thanks, Erik. Helpful, if disappointing, info.
