    Greetings everyone

My new T61 14.1 SXGA+ hard drive bay cover screw won't tighten no matter how long I twist to try and secure it in the hole. As a result when I lift up the computer and set it down the screw falls off and the cover becomes loose. I called IBM tech support who were prompt and helpful in ordering the necessary parts and send a tech to repair it on Monday 11/05/2007. I will post again to review the onsite tech experience but before doing so I have two questions:

    1) Has any encountered a stupid problem like this?

    2) I just added RAM..should I remove it? to ensure the tech support that everything was in stock condition and not have him/her question if I did something to the hard drive bay cover screw? or do they not care at all

I appreciate any input on this matter. Thank you for your time

Did the laptop come shipped with the screws loose or did you take them out?

The harddrive cover screw was loose when it shipped...the only thing I tried was to tighten it. The only screws I removed were the were the ones to open the palm rest so that I could install RAM

Oh I see, they should fix that for you. Let us know what the issue was when they do fix it, I'd be curious to know.

    Good luck. :)
