Hi, I'm just now looking to order a thinkpad t series (For school purposes mainly - a bit of programming too)
It will be a t500 or a t510, I don't need it now so I figure I will wait until january/february/march to spec out the t510 when it comes out compared to a t500, I figure i'll decide which one i want when the t510 comes out, and if i pick the t510 i'll wait until it goes on sale, otherwise i'll order the last of the t500's.
Anyway, my question is that looking at the current hard drive option, it seems it would be cheaper and smarter for me to keep the lowest option and replace it after i receive it (because the hard drive upgrades are more expensive than a new drive itself)
Anyway, i think that the drives that come with are hitachi? (5400rpm, not looking for 7200rpm) - Ideally i'd replace it with a samsung spinpoint with more space, because samsung is my favorite brand and I find them to be reliable and the most quiet.
Anyway - I'm just curious of the hdaps (hd active protection system?) will still work with a replacement drive (like the samsung) - is it a strictly software driven system, or do i need a hard drive with a certain sensor in it (or is the sensor not even in the hard drive at all)
Thanks,
B

Dis is wut u need. u can address the shock q's to the people on dis board or lenovo. Dis drive has its own sensor if it can't integrate into Lunovo's system. If you are an econ or bizness major den you will c the logic in buying dis. -
the sensor is on the mother board, and will work with any harddrives
