I would like to replace the hard drive in my R51 notebook. I've seen ads for hard drive replacement kits. Can anyone comment on these kits. thanks.[8D]

Hi rths,
I'm not sure what would be in a kit??? a small screwdriver to help replace the hard drive. Just get a 2.5" 9.5mm height notebook hard drive period. No kit needed as all you need to replace one is a small phillips screw driver and about 5 minutes time[ ]

Do you know of any web site that would describe the steps involved. The notebook is a IBM R51. Thanks in advance.

Here is the link to the R50 hardware maintenance manual.

It should give you an idea of what is involved. Like I said, if it is like the R40 and other thinkpads, it is very easy and only requires a screwdriver and removing/replacing a few screws that hold the drive in place.
