Hello, I have a W510 with a 80GB SSD as my primary hdd. I have bought the 9.5mm ultrabay adapter from Lenovo(on Amazon), and installed by 500gb hdd that came with the laptop originally, into the adapter.

Obviously, there is a gap, and its very annoying when i hold the laptop with one hand on the right-side. The laptop material bends inwards so that the gap gets squeezed by my hands.

Anyhow, I bought a 12.5mm adapter off ebay for 11 dollars, but although it fit very well physically, the drive was not getting recognized.

However, there is an even bigger problem. Is the hdd supposed to be fixed tightly inside the laptop? The ultrabay adapter had the black thing that opens up so that the HDD can be plugged in, and after I plug it in, I closed the black "thing" so it holds the HDD in place. However, whenever i hold the laptop upside down, I hear the HDD rocking back and forth. Is this normal? Obviously, this can't be good for the machine...

    Any thoughts? Similar experiences?
    Thanks guys.

You're supposed to use a caddy (minus the rubber rails) like with the primary drive.
