I have a Lenovo X61 and I'm wondering if its possible to upgrade the HD to a 500GB one? If so, any suggested models?

    Thanks.

Yes, it is possible. The 500GB Western Digital may interest you. You can read NBR's own John Ratsey's review here. A 7200RPM drive will offer better performance. The biggest drives right now are 320GB right now, though there are some bigger ones coming.

Any affects on battery life? While 7200RPM would be nice, I'm happy with 5400RPM if it uses less battery.

    Thanks.

I'm happily using a 500GB WD Scorpio Blue (5400RPM) in my X200T. Simply cloned the distribution disk onto the 500GB disk using Acronis and swapped drives.

    Hi,

I am new to this forum.

I would like to find out if the new Western Digital 1 Terabyte harddisk is compatible with my X61, since I have read that certain models of harddisks face problems such as BSOD.

    Thanks
    Lionel

It is not as it's a 12.7mm drive. It's too thick. It would work in the optical bay of a R series ThinkPad.
