I bought a T61p recently, and even though it isn't here yet, have a few questions about the hard drive. I went out and got a 250GB External HDD (Western Digital MyBook) which I learned isn't formatted in NTFS. Now I also have a Dell Dimension 8250, and I will need to transfer some files from my Dell to my External HDD so that I can bring it up to school and transfer the files from the MyBook to my T61p when it gets there.

I've been told that NTFS is a much better format than FAT32 for larger hard drives, but how do I find out if my Dell Internal HDD is NTFS or FAT32? Also is the T61p 100GB 7200rpm hard drive in NTFS or FAT32 format?

Finally, if my Dell HDD is FAT32, can I still transfer my files from it to my External MyBook HDD?

Thanks in advance for the help. This has become a huge dilemma for me.

My recently received T60p came with a 100GB 7200rpm drive that had two partitions. The hidden(rescure) one is FAT32, while the one that has windows xp pro is NTFS.

It's running XP (was pre-loaded when I purchased it).

Does this mean that I'll be able to easily hook up and transfer data from the External HDD without any difficulty?
