I noticed my t61p has a hairline crack on the bottom left corner of the screen bezel. When I open and close the screen it widens, so I'm worried the crack is going to get bigger and start causing more of a problem.

The laptop has not been subject to any force/drops etc, I can only assume it's a stress fracture from regular use.

Any ideas if this is covered under my warranty? Anyone made a claim for a similar issue and have any advice or comment?

    Thanks

Yup, contact warranty asap. Seems to be a manufacturing defect that just got worst with regular uses.

    Thanks for the reply :)

I've spoken to support and sent them a picture of the crack. Initially the agent said that he thought the fix would be billable, which I then questioned. Eventually he said he'd get the department that deals with it phone me back. When that happened the woman said that 'front office' accepts that the crack is a stress fracture, but to process a claim they need to send me a form to sign that means that I will be charged if the fracture is deemed to be the result of misuse...

Anyway, looks like I'm going to be sending it away via courier for repair. Quite frustrating really since I bought the machine largely on the basis of build quality and have treated it extremely well.

Since I'm going to be sending it back for repair, is there anything else that I should check, or might be likely to have problems with that I can get them to do whilst they have the machine?

    Many thanks for any suggestions!

Double check the general structure of the notebook to make sure there are no more such cracks.
