[ ]I got a Think Pad 600x as a present in ninth grade. Now i have two questions the track point doesnt work and when a mouse is attached in the P/S2 slot i have to wiggle it to make it work right. So my question is do i need to get a new mother baord and keybaord in order to get them both to work? If that is the cast then how hard is it to do it my self. Thanks A lot who ever helps

Don't bother trying to replace the motherboard, as the costs will easily exceed the replacement cost of that notebook computer.

I have a 600X that I still use when I have to type long documents- the keybaord of the 600x started the IBM notebook keyboard legend and it is STILL the best of all time in a laptop! I upgraded to XP Pro and added memory to have 384 megs- it still works great! it is 6 years old

Replacing the keyboard first will be the least expensive option.
I was robbed by a sweet little old lady on a motorized cart and I didn't even see it coming.

You don't need to replace the motherboard. Trackpoint failing is unfortunately a typical failure and you need a new keyboard. Buy one from ebay and replace it yourself.
I did the same and it was not that hard. Get the hardware manual from IBM though.
