    hi folks

My R40 is ancient probably a few years old now and I bought it refurbished at a local college.

Things have gone bad and now I need to re-install but I have no drivers or driver cd.

I've looked on the Lenovo website and have called them too. They suggested I purchase a 50$ CD from them.

I don't want to do that so I'm wondering does anyone have the drivers or know where I can download them?

    My R40's model number is

    Type 2681 - HU1
    S/N - C1076 03/06

    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

    Jimmy

I've tried there already but for some reason though, when I install they don't work. My ethernet drivers, video drivers don't work.

Am I doing something wrong or does Lenovo not supply the proper drivers no more?

Edit: Okay so I went back and looked at the page. do I really need use the command prompt to install the files? I've been double clicking the whole time :(

    Thanks for the reply
    Jimmy

I have an R40 using Windows XP and I've also temporarily put Vista on it (didn't ever keep it installed), but the link that Arkit3kt posted has *all* of the drivers that you need. I've had the R40 for more than 4 years and that URL was always at the top of my bookmarks list. :)

I don't think you're actually installing them but rather extracting them. Next time you double click them, make sure to read what it says. You most likely extracted the files to your C: Drive. Please follow the instructions to install, not all of them are download, double-click, and install.

oh man... I can't believe it. I was so use to installing new drivers with my Compaq that I thought it was the same with the ThinkPad.

I even edited the wrong post too.

I'm gonna try that out and actually go through the inextructions exactly rather than assume.

Thanks for the help I'll post back my findings.

It's different for Lenovo systems. If you need any extra assistance, perhaps my clean install guide can help you out (see sig).

    OMG

I just noticed that now in your sig.
It was soo small, I didn't even notice it.

I'll look through it now. I'm on another PC right now gonna transfer the downloads to my R40 in a bit then try it all out.

Thanks for all the help this gives me hope for my R40 lol
