I want to know where the best place is to get my chipset drivers. I have no idea what my chipset is though. Can someone tell me how to find out?
-
Do you have an Intel processor? I think you do.
www.intel.com and look up the 965 chipset. -
Yes, I have the Intel Core 2 Duo processor T9300 (2.5GHz 800MHz 6MBL2). Is that 965 chipset?
-
Yes, I have the Intel Core 2 Duo processor T9300 (2.5GHz 800MHz 6MBL2). Does my processor use the 965 chipset? Is this the correct driver for my processor:: Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family
I have a discrete nVidia graphics card. Does this matter? -
you do have that chipset. a great tool to find out your internals is CPU-Z. A quick google search will give you the download site. Head over to intel's site and grab the latest chipset driver. Its pretty simple to navigate the site after you get to the downloads page.
-
So this is the correct driver?: Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family
-
thats correct. dont worry, you wont be able to install the incorrect driver. you can also download the intel chipset id tool. i recommend a program like CPU-Z for you to get familiar with things.
-
You can download an utility on intel's website that will tell you exactly what hardware you have. You can find it here. Just run that and then download the drivers for whatever it says you have.
-
What do chipsets do?
-
run a search for lenovo vista clean install. the thread has all the drivers you'll ever want for the lenovo
-
whoa dude, hold the phone. as i tell my users, self help is one of the best tools. do a little research, use google, wiki and about.com. this forums is full of great people that spend lots of time helping others. we will help you along the way but you will ultimately learn the most from yourself. good luck. click here

When I run the setup it says: "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software, Setup will exit". I have more then 1GB of ram and it's the correct chipset. I don't understand why the Intel Chipset ID tool cannot detect my chipset either.
-
try this for identification
why are you trying to reinstall the chipset anyway? -
Yes, it recognizes my chipset. And when I go onto the Intel site and download the correct drivers for my chipset it gives me that message when it's about to install. Any ideas? I'm not sure why I am re-installing it. I thought the newer the version the better?
-
screenshots?
-
Will the newer chipset driver version make my performance faster on my computer? I just have the regular drivers from the Lenovo pre-install. As for the screen shots it just looks like a grey box with that error message.
-
i would say no. the lenovo drivers are pretty recent, sometimes intel only allows for manufacturer drivers until a later driver is released. stick with lenovo. if you really want the best performance and learning experience, then follow the clean install guide on this forum. its your best bet.

Okay, another question. When I was updating my nVidia graphic drivers and I had to copy the edited INI file into the driver folder, it asked me to replace the current file in that folder. I did that, is this correct? Also once my original driver was installed on the first boot-up it said 2 system DLL's where missing. After I installed the newer drivers you recommended it did not ask me that. Did that happen to you?
-
That inf file contains the correct id for the hardware as well as some other options and fixes, so what you did was right.
I don't know anything about missing 2 dlls, never happened to me (my W7S has a 8400M) - but it works fine with the modded drivers. -
never had any missing file issues with the modded drivers. try using drivercleaner pro and do the process over again. did you uninstall the original first?
-
No, once I uninstalled my "original drivers" and ran driver cleaner when I restarted my computer on the bootup sayed I was missing DLL's or something. Then I installed the modded drivers you recommended and I am fine now.
-
cool. i say run it. ghosts in the machine i guess. as long as its good then dont sweat it.
-
So if I am able to play games that means it was installed properly? Everything looks pretty good. I have another question, if I do a bootable CD BIOS update whats the chance I screw up my motherboard if everything goes well.
-
easy there, no need for a bios update if all is well. use 3dmark06 to test your driver install.
relax and enjoy your laptop. -
Hey guys. I have this same chipset... can't seem to find the latest drivers on Intel's site. I searched all over the place there... Anyone know where it is? A link would be appreciated. Thanks...

Need the latest chipset drivers for the T9300 2.5 Ghz and also the matrix storage drivers. Can't seem to find them on the Intel site...
