I was watching a t23 today on the bus, get off, go home; try to turn it on, and it won't go.

When I push the power button the green light by the ultrabay turns on and theres a slight hum from the laptop, but nothing turns on. Also, when I plug in the charging cable, the lights don't turn on to indicate that it is in fact plugged in.

Anybody know what the issue could be?

(I called lenovo, but they told me to go to a service rep. I'm in Quebec, Canada right now so that isn't an option for me as I am basically in the middle of no where.)

    Could be a few things:
    1) Your battery could be fried
    2) Your charger could be fried
    3) Your charging circuit inside the laptop could be fried

    UPDATE!!!

now the lights turn on when presing the power button, and i am able to turn off the laptop without removing my battery.
yet when turned on a um is heard, and the fan is on, it quickly turns off then on again, and so on so forth.
laptop still does not turn on, but power is working and is able to charge.
    any suggestions?
Ps: i managed to get the power working by removing the ac adapter and leaving the laptop on.

After about 3 yrs. 11 mo. my T23 stopped booting to XP and gave me a simple "fan error" message during POST. If your fan is cycling off and on, maybe the root cause is similar?
