Well this is not so much of a bump as it is using the thread for a closely related question.

I ended up purchasing the x40 without a hard drive. I have read quite a bit about installing the CF cards. Additionally, the Kingspec SSD's which are cheap, Chinese made and seem to be made specifically for the x4X. Also, I will be using Linux, so apparently fixed disk/removable is not an issue? I would like some opinions or suggestions on this.

I need at least 16GB, but 32GB would be nice. It doesn't need to fly, but I'd like to get at least 50-60 MB/s reads.

Ultimately though, I would like to keep to a certain budget while maintaining reasonable use.

For the 32GB CF, I am consiering http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820161352

    For 16GB, CF I am considering http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208528

Alternatively, I was thinking maybe I could find two slower 16GB or 32GB, put them in a dual adapter and run software raid setup. However, it seems the adapters usually have pretty limited bandwith, so I am not sure how well this would fare?

For the SSD, the Kingspec is certainly an easy solution. Are they reliable? No adapter necessary, they seem a bit faster, and they will fit well. However, if I go for the 32GB, this will end up being a bit over $100, while the CF route should be a bit cheaper.

Would an extra 30-40 USD be worth the Kingspec? The thing I don't like about spending too much is I got the computer for a bit over 100USD, so spending that much again for a hard drive seems ridiculous, but because of the form factor it seems I don't have much of a choice.

Sorry for the long post. Has anyone else put any thought into this?

    Thanks,
    Ryan
