    HDD constantly/consistantly making noise (with audio clip)

    Usually when a HDD makes any kind of abnormal noise, regardless of how it sounds, its usually a sign that the HDD is starting to fail. Although, sometimes some HDD's are just loud, so it may not be abnormal. Either case, I would make regular backups.

    You might have active protection set too sensitive. Does it also click when laptop is simply resting on a tabletop?

    Yea, when it's at idle. Under the disk monitor, I noticed that there was a spike at the same time that it clicked. It does a repeating pattern of some seek noises then a click. It's actually quieter when it's working writing something.

    As for active protection, I don't use that or any of the thinkvantage software.
