I have a question about HD failure. What is the cause when the HDD when check has an error of error 0000: read verification failed? Anyone have encountered this problem? I am using Lenovo T61 with windows vista and Hitachi HDD.

Another problem is the problem when doing the clean install for vista. There is always error encountered in the middle of the copying of expanding files. What might be the cause of it? I think it is error 0x80070003.

Can someone help me with these problems I have encountered? Thank you.

nope. I have I think the 1.09 version. I did not change it because as others in here said that do not upgrade it if there is no fix for a problem you are encountering in the new version.

I don't know if this helps but the error code you get means the following:

0x80070003: The system cannot find the path specified.

You also say that you have some problems with your hard drive, so it might be because of that. But you might want to verify if your Vista DVD is error free.

I had the same thing happen to me when trying to install Vista recently. It would also give me an error in the middle of copying and expanding files. Don't remember the error code (i remember that there were a lot of zeros too), but what helped was booting into repair and doing a chkdsk (checkdisk) at Command Prompt. After that windows installed normally.
I too thought that it could have been a bad DVD, but when the install failed when trying it from both my original Vista disk and the one i had made with Vlite, i knew that wasn't the issue.

If you have no readily available tools the simplest way might be to just try and copy the files from the DVD to a folder on your hard drive. This will essentially read through all files on the disc.

It might not be the best way but it would come up with errors if there is something wrong with the disc.
