HDD/SSD in UltraBay automatically ejects when resuming from sleep/standby

I've searched this forum and some others for a solution to this problem, but have come up short.

Installed a 3rd party 12.7mm SATA ultrabay and tried it with second SSD and then again with second HDD.

When resuming from sleep/standby in Windows 7, the second HDD or SSD (tried both) in the UltraBay is automatically ejected. I have to remove the drive or restart in order to access the drive again.

(If I put a pagefile on the 2nd HDD, then the eject command produces an error: "Problem Ejecting WD... This device is currently in use...")

I changed my power plan to maximum performance, disabled the optical drive from auto-powering off, and disabled PCI power management... but still the drive ejects itself after standby. All drivers are up to date. Intel SSD management installed.

New symptom: When the drive is ejected, going through a sleep/resume cycle "wakes" the drive up again. But then, the next time I resume from sleep, the drive disappears once more. Sleep/resume: drive ejects > Sleep/resume: drive activated > Sleep/resume: drive ejects...

    Any suggestions?
