So it took me a while to collect all the drivers needed to run XP x64 on my lenovo T400, but I have finally succeeded in doing it.
I collected drivers and instructions and posted them on my site here: ht_tp://ww_w.dmitr_ygrinberg.co_m/priv/Directions.zip
[remove underscores to use URL]
The zip file contains a series of folders, each of which guides you though installation of some set of needed drivers, and does so in an order that works. If you follow them, you will end up with a working XPx64 installation on your T400.
If you have any questions feel free to post here and I'll try to respond. I realize that this being my first post, and linking to files may look suspicious, but I assure you the file is an innocuous ZIP file and is virus free. You can verify so yourself.
I did not bother supporting the modem because in the 21st century we don't use them anymore. All other things are supported: wireless, sound, both video cards, and even hard disk shaking protection/detection.
I hope I can save someone all the time it took me to collect all these.

Hi dmitrygr
Thanks for your sharing. I like xp64 most for its fast response, but I have two issues when I intall the xp64 on my t60 notebook, the powermanager and osd.
I wonder if you could get the powermanager work properly so as to customize the critical point for better maintainance of the battery. And does your on screen display (osd) work , also some hotkeys functions, like fn+f5, fn+f7. -
i do not use powermanager, since I use RMClock, which is much superior in terms of managing power of intel processors and chipsets (undervolting FTW)
not sure what hotkeys you mean.
but I did just get the builtin cardreader to read SDHC cards (according to google no1 else can use builtin readers to read SDHC on x64 XP).
i'll post the guide and drivers for that soon -
I'm an avid xp x64 user and am interested in your solution on using sdhc cards! I've compiled comprehensive xp x64 drivers for a dell e1505 and am stuck on the sdhc problem.

email me [email protected]
i'll give you what i have
it seems to work 50/50 on ricoh readers [works on some but not others, 100% stable success on any particular one]

Hi,
I have several problems:
1: When I start 05. Install Chipset Drivers\3. Northbridge and Graphics\Setup.exe I get this error:
This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. Setup will exit.
I also get the same message trying to install the chipset driver using: winxp64_14371.exe
2. Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver
I also have problems following the instructions without a disk floppy in: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-70477#install
When I set the SATA back to AHCI and try to reboot Windows won't start?!
Thanks Tai -
Hi,
it would be good to have a more detailed description of the steps. What I did so far was:
Preparation
1. Clean Installation of XP Pro x64
2. Install SP2
Install drivers based on the directions.zip you have provided
1. use nLite to slipstream the drivers
I skip this step since I do not know exactly what nLite is for
2. Install .NET framework
3. Install Chipset drivers
3.1. Install Intel Southbridge
3.2. Install ACPI
3.3. Install Northbridge and Graphics
Here I couldn't go on since the Setup.exe throws an error:
This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. Setup will exit.

Okay. I found the solution here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=292640
The install the GM 45 Express chip (Northbridge) you need to go to the BIOS setup and set the graphics to: "integrated".
Then you can install the driver. -
I do also have a problem with the card reader. I've installed the 4-in-1 driver and it recognizes only SD but not SDHC cards.
How did you get it working?
Thanks
