Hi,
I recently purchased a Thinkpad T400, which came with preinstalled Office 2007 Trial version. I have a legitimate copy of Office 2007 Enterprise from my school, and I wanted install it.
So, I uninstalled preinstalled Office 2007 using "uninstall" option also removed all Office-related programs using the "uninstall programs" in Windows Vista 32bit.
But when I put in the disk of my good copy of Office 2007, it gives me an error message of "Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not available. Run setup again from the original source disk or download location"
I've been reading on the Microsoft website as well as others to completely remove preinstalled Office (I think that's what's causing some problem), and I still haven't had any luck.
Does anyone know how to resolve this problem? I need to install and use my Office soon!
Thank you so much.

My T400 came with a trial version of Office 2007 as well, and I also have a legit version of Office 2007 Enterprise from my school. I just went to add/remove programs and uninstalled everything that was titled Office 2007. I put in the installation disk and did a full install with no problems at all. Are you sure your disk is not corrupt or something?

Can you tell me exactly what your steps were in terms of removing Office?
The disk is OK, as I checked it on other PCs.
I am considering restoring my T400 to factory settings are try to uninstall Office 2007 per your directions. I don't have anything on it, but I have been messing around with it to get rid of the Office. I can try it fresh.
Did you remove Office 2007 as well as other Office related programs using the add/remove feature?
Thanks again! -
Yes, pretty much as soon as I got the laptop I went to add/remove programs and uninstalled anything that had to do with Office 2007 from there. I restarted my computer and installed fresh from my disk. No problems or issues whatsoever.
Guide to removing preinstalled Office 2007 in T400 for new Office installation?
