I made a mistake when I bought my T60p a couple of years ago. I had decided, because of my experience with my previous two laptops, a Sony and a Dell, that I didn't expect to keep another laptop more than two years, so I only purchased a 2 year warranty with a 2 year replacement contract. Well, I love this T60p so much I don't want to give it up and wish I had gone for at least another year with both.

So today I called Lenovo (6 days prior to my warranty expiration) and extended it another year. I was told that if I added something to the order, like a laptop case or some other accessory, I can get a deal on the warranty and the accessory.

The warranty is normally $149 (and change, I think) but with a (free) laptop bag it would be $140. Getting a SATA hard drive bay adapter put the total to $164 (plus shipping). So if your thinking of upgrading the warranty, be sure to ask for any deals offered.

I didnt know about the bags and extras like that but if you upgrade your warranty during purchase (using CPP/EPP) or within 14 days you can get a really good deal

after my issue with the GPU defect, my credit card company refunded almost the full amount and I got a new t400. I upgraded my warranty a few days later and the 5 year warranty was only 185 (again only under cpp/epp).

I would have just purchase the extended warranty with VISA, but the lenovo one was too cheap to pass up at 185 for 5 years. Its also much easier to deal with lenovo (overnight shipping and almost no paperwork)

the best time to buy is within 14 days of purchase in my case.

hmm thats really decent. T6x models seems to be a great success for lenovo. for 140, its really worth it. a new screen can cost like $300 retail. ill have this in mind if my T60 dont sell.

These deals are probably a result in the way the economy is, or maybe not.
