Well, it looks like they finally killed it off. I wonder if this will have an impact on the unit I ordered a month ago.

At least I know that the longer it takes to ship, the better the chances are of my having the newest titanium-lidded Thinkpad on the planet.

R.I.P. ? Depends on perspective. I think the Z61 morphed into the T61 WS. The T61 sure reminds me of the Z61 - I think much of the design was borrowed from the Z. I think the T61 WS is an evolution of the Z series.

I agree, the off-centered screen is definitely an evolution...

A huge step for mankind.

I ordered a Z61t on June 5th and made a change to my screen earlier this week. The updated configuration has yet to appear on my status page. I wonder how long it will take to ship now. I am tired of waiting!

FWIW... My order was placed on May 14th. The shipping estimate was May 28th, then June 18th.

I don't know if the delays are related to the T61 issues - it has a camera.

Maybe they're just not ready to part with the Z61 and want to hold on to mine for as long as possible.
