    Hi,

I'm thinking about buying a T61P. Is it a good time right now ??

I heard that the new model that will replace this one will have a ATI GFX Card. I'm not a big fan of ATI. I'm a college student/gamer and I prefer NVidia GPUs.

So you think I should buy right now ??

P.S I'm in Canada so I would order at Lenovo.ca

Yes, sounds like nvida is going. If price is important then now is a good time. The new models will most likely have improved battery life and more video options. So if that matters you might want to wait.

If you want a killer deal on a great notebook get the current T61p. Lots of great deals on them.

If you want better tech for more money (I'm guessing) wait.

If you are doubtful to buy now, then wait. Once the new platforms come out, there will be good discounts to clear out the old stock.

However if you are bent up on not getting ATI, then definitely now would be the time to buy.

I am going to buy now for the same reason; ATI cards in the new version. I want to game on mine and Linux compatibility is important to me. Plus the prices on the new ones will be high for probably a year before they come down to a reasonable level.

Are there any real disadvantages to ATI's laptop cards other than user loyalty or Linux compatability?

No. In the worst case scenario, it'd be comparable with the current 570M and still enjoy better battery life.
