I've been hunting around of a good laptop, and the T60 is definitely on my list of top 5. While hunting around for good prices on laptops, I came accross a good deal for a T60 from buy.com
    http://www.buy.com/prod/Lenovo_Thin...ore_Duo_1_83GHz_14_1/q/loc/101/202314415.html

My only issue is that it almost seems "too good". It is by far the best deal I've found anywhere on the web. I can effectively save like 2-300 bucks off buying it from lenovo.

My question is do any of you have an opinion on buy.com or this deal? I've dealt with buy.com several times in the past without issue, and I just wanted a second opinion on this before I buy.

Yes, that is a good price for that configuration, the 3-year warranty and everything. I would want 1GB of Memory instead of the 512MB so you might want to upgrade that. I've used Buy.com in the past too and never had issue, I would endorse them. So yes, if this is what you want, don't hesitate!

The Buy.com price is $1529. The same configuration (2623D6U) has a regular price of $1599 at Lenovo.com, plus this month Lenovo is offering a $200 mail-in rebate on this model, bringing it down to $1399.

I don't really see how this is a good deal. Am I missing something?

Yes, this is a very capable laptop and the price is good, but it is even better with a $200 rebate! <http://www-131.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/PromotionDisplay?promoId=1074779343&catalogId=-840&storeId=10000001&langId=-1>

You beat me by couple seconds :)
Why do you think you cant get the same rebate if you buy from buy.com?? read the rebate instructions, it says authorised resellers, I would be surprised if buy.com is not one of them...

The rebate is a manufacturer's rebate and as long as buy.com is an authorized reseller, and I'm sure they are...you should be able to apply for the rebate for those purchases.

Having said this, Lenovo has a good return policy...not sure what Buy has.

"For any new Lenovo products, you may return it to Lenovo for any reason within 30 days of the date of invoice and obtain a refund or credit."

I too was unsure about their authorized reseller status; I was going to order a T60p from them.

fact is they have not written me back stating that they are.

The fine print is essential when it comes to rebates so be careful.

Buy.com IS a LENOVO authorized reseller.
Also buy.com is my second favorite site after amazon. I never had any problems.

ahem, dont forget sales tax. Buy.com doesn't charge it, lenovo does. So even if buy didn't get the rebate (which it does), at worst its a wash. At best, I get a good deal and a rebate ;P

Don't forget about Lenovo.com's sales tax. Most states will hose you with $100+ in tax.

Same model is $1,442 at www.costcentral.com, and reports to be in stock. That site says they are an authorized reseller. Never bought from them, but always cheap prices.

    I'm also considering the 2623d6u.
Anyone know if $200 rebate applies to EPP?
