Cool. It's still more expensive than some Dells I'm considering. I don't really need such great specs, but it's hard to pass up a good deal. Is this an outstanding deal or just a decent one that I could find anytime when IBM has sales?

My friend works at IBM says he can get me a discount.

Should ask your friend to get you the 2379DXU instead.
Same specs except for 1.7GHz P-M instead of 1.8GHz and 3 year warranty instead of 1 year warranty.
IBM EPP price was/is $1372. Might be backordered, so you may have to wait a little bit.

I doubt you will notice the slightly slower processor, but you will save almost $200 and get 2 more years of warranty.
